Diners are being promised a night with a difference in a few week’s time when a renowned Ecclesall Road Italian hosts its first ever night of live opera.
Nonnas have enlisted the services of celebrated local tenor Gareth Lloyd to provide the vocal accompaniment to a menu themed around popular Italian opera.
Maurizio Mori, Nonnas proprietor, said: “We’ve tried a lot of different things at Nonnas over the years but Italian opera has always eluded – until now.
“Our chefs are working on a menu that compliments major Italian opera songs spanning Nessun Dorma to ‘O Sole Mio.
“Gareth Lloyd did a rendition to diners a few days ago and got a standing ovation – we’ve no doubt it’s going to be a popular night.”
Gareth Lloyd is co-founder of Sheffield-based Opera On Location – a company renowned for providing immersive opera experiences.
He was a star performer at a recently Italian evening at the University of Sheffield and his operatic credits include Don Curzio The Marriage of Figaro with West Riding Opera, le Remendado Carmen, Monostatos The Magic Flute and Faust in Faust with Sheffield City Opera.
Nonnas first opened on Ecclesall Road in 1996.
It has won numerous awards down the years including the Best Italian in England.
Nonnas’ Night At The Opera starring tenor Gareth Lloyd is set to take place on Monday, November 11th. Tickets are just £45 each and include a five course themed menu.
