Adding Derbyshire talent to rock ’n’ roll classic Footloose

THEY’RE ready to kick off their Sundays shoes and cut loose as classic rock ’n’ roll musical Footloose comes to Sheffield’s Montgomery Theatre.

And there’s plenty of Derbyshire talent both on stage and off as Woodseats Musical Theatre present their version of the cult 1980s hit.

Woodseats Musical Theatre favourite and music teacher Adam Walker – who plays the show’s star Ren – has appeared in many of the company’s past pructions, including revivals of The Boy Friend, Kiss Me Kate and Thoroughly Modern Millie at Dronfield Civic Theatre.

Dronfield-based Clair Stokes, a Senior Team Manager with a Food Regulatory Compliance Consultancy, plays Ren’s mum Ethal, while the cast’s most senior member, 80-year-old Mike Richardson, lives in Calver, where he can still be found delivering the newspapers every day from very early in the morning.

And making sure the show gets on stage are husband and wife directing team James and Kate Parkin, who live with their family in Dronfield.

Footloose: The Musical runs at the Montgomery Theatre in Surrey Street, Sheffield, from July 10 to 13. Tickets on 0114 2644803 or 078554 23670.
