RESIDENTS at Grange Crescent residential care home in Nether Edge are hitting all the right notes after rediscovering a love of singing.
The home – part of the Sheffcare group – launched its own choir after realising that residents who attended monthly church services together really enjoyed singing the hymns.
By Christmas the group had decided to put a programme of carols together and then, with the support of the home’s activity workers, they went on to create an Easter programme of music.
The choir now stands at about 20 members, with everybody getting together regularly to exercise their vocal chords and entertain not only themselves but also other residents and members of staff.
“They all do this with pride and really enjoy coming together to sing their favourites,” said Grange Crescent Manager Asha Oliver.
“The power of music is one that can never be underestimated and it is really wonderful to see this group of people finding so much pleasure and giving so much pleasure too.”
