I’ll be the first to hold my hands up and say I’ve never really seen much point to hampers, they aren’t something that I would have ever considered purchasing, so when I was asked to review the Chrismas Hamper from Prestige Hampers I was slightly reluctant as I wasn’t sure I’d be the best person for the task. Big Stamp has worked with Prestige Hampers before and based on the feedback from another reviewer I accepted the assignment.
As a reviewer, I don’t get to choose the products as the company decides what to send us, so I did my research before the hamper arrived and checked out the website. Their website is well designed and simple to use with a large selection of hampers to suit every budget. I’ll admit at this point having seen the full range Prestige offered I was starting to get a little bit excited at the chance of being able to write the review and wondered which hamper would arrive.
On the expected delivery day, it was like Christmas had come early, after hearing a knock at the door I answered it to see a courier with a large brown box marked Prestige Hampers, excitedly I signed for the parcel and rushed to see what was inside. They say first impressions count and Prestige Hampers certainly delivered here and after opening the box I was greeted by a well-made wicker basket full of goodies.
The hamper included the following items:
- Los Coches Pinot Noir 75cl
- Los Coches Viognier 75cl
- Bottega Spa Casa Bottega Prosecco DOC 75cl
- Vista Alegre Fine Ruby Port 37.5cl
- Yorkshire Crisps Sweet Chilli And Lime Crisps 100g
- Walkers Mint Classics Chocolate 120g
- Walkers Chocolate Mint Thins 150g
- Farmhouse Sundried Tomato and Pesto Savoury Biscuits 100g
- Reids Oat Crumbles Honey 150g
- Walkers Thick And Crunchy Oatcakes 300g
- Dormen Pistachio 40g
- Original Cake Co. Iced Rich Fruit Cake 400g
- Gold Star Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Afternoon Coffee 56g
- Simply Delicious Fruit Flavour Jellies 125g
- Mrs Darlington Strawberry Jam 130g
- Mrs Darlington Medium Cut Orange Marmalade 130g
- New English Tea English Afternoon Teas 10s
- Ardens Pandora Classic Panetone 100g
- Bon Bons Rosie Apples 190g
There are so many items in this hamper that I can’t share my thoughts on them all but some of the highlights were:
Reids Oat Crumbles Honey
These were very moreish with a subtle taste of honey, my only complaint was that there wasn’t enough of them, I managed to eat the full packet in one go with a cup of the New English Tea which also included with the hamper.
Bottega Spa Casa Bottega Prosecco
Its perfect balance – not too sweet and not too dry, while the fruity aromas stand out.
Simply Delicious Fruit Flavour Jellies
Lovely texture and gives you a bit of a sugar rush with a nice tase of fruit.
Los Coches Pinot Noir
With a lovely subtle cherry flavour, Los Coches Pinot Noir is a great wine to enjoy in the evening after a long hard day at work.
This is so well made with gorgeous leather straps, long after the items have been consumed I will still be using this as it makes a perfect basket for those summer picnics when the British weather allows.
I’m pleased to say that my opinion of hampers has completely changed and I’m now a convert. During these strange times of having to socially distance ourselves from one another and not being able to see friends and family, with Christmas fast approaching a hamper is an ideal gift for those special occasions when you’re not able to meet in person to celebrate and seems to be a much more personal gift to show someone you are thinking of them.
Prestige Hampers gets our well deserved Big Stamp of Approval. I’d highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for a gift for someone special or even as an indulgent treat for yourself.
