In the 2019 Sheffield Business Awards, one employee-owned company Loadhog, manufacturer of returnable transit solutions, is shortlisted for two awards and Gripple Automation, creator of bespoke automated production systems, appears in another category.
Multi award-winning Loadhog – also featured for the first time in the recently published list of the region’s top 50 SME manufacturers – made the grade in the High Growth Business and Excellence in International Trade categories of the Sheffield awards scheme organised by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.
In the last five years Loadhog invested £3.6m plus in new manufacturing capacity and tooling, gearing up for the global opportunities. Over the period 2016-2018 staff increased 25% to 90 employees in total.
The latest investment delivered strong export sales volume growth, achieving £7.3m in 2018 with the company on track to hit record export sales of £9.3m in 2019, no doubt assisted by the opening of a French base.

These aim to improve manufacturing processes, increase performance, quality and safety, and reduce costs, meeting and often exceeding customers’ specific requirements.
With its own new facility opening in Sheffield next year, Gripple Automation is now a leading provider in its field.
