The friendship between teacher Sallianne Foster-Major and dancer Claire Wallis led to a very special visit for pupils at Sheffield’s Westbourne School.
Claire is now based in Sardinia but she has always kept in touch with Sallianne, who she has known since they were both members of Sheffield’s acclaimed Manor Operatic Society.
And it was thanks to that friendship that a group of pupils, parents and teachers from Ludum Sacre Cuore bi-lingual school in the Sardinian city of Cagliari spent a week at Westbourne, the Broomhill independent school.
Throughout the visit, the Italian children took part in Forest School lessons as well as maths, music, drama and Science Day activities.
They also visited Yorkshire Mining Museum and York Viking Museum as well as taking part in a treasure hunt at Botanical Gardens and finding time for shopping at Meadowhall.
Some children and parents also attended a Sheffield United match at Bramall Lane.
