How Callum found Time for You

WHEN Callum Hall’s grandmother became a patient at St Luke’s Hospice, he found the support he needed to get him through a difficult period of change and loss with Time For You.

Time For You is the service for pre and post-bereaved young people offered by national charity the Brathay Trust in association with St Luke’s.

Callum, who is 13 and lives in Bradway, attends Saturday morning sessions at Clifford House, taking part in fun and interactive indoor and outdoor activities, all aimed at helping him to come to terms with long-term illness and bereavement.

“Callum was first approached by the social worker when my mum was an inpatient at St Luke’s,” explains mum Tina.

“Callum would visit his nan and then go on to attend Brathay Time For You.

“He would later go back to see his nan and they had lovely, happy conversations about all the fun things he had done.

“My mum was always a happy fun loving person even up to the end and she totally encouraged Callum to attend Time For You and would love to listen to all the things he had done which made them both happy.

“Callum has fun with people his own age and enjoys himself rather than being sad about his nan,” Tina says.

“Time For You has given him the tools to be able to cope. I would highly recommend Time For You because of how it has helped my son.”

And for Callum himself there is no doubt of the benefits of Time For You as he explains: “I feel my confidence has grown – and it has helped me not be sad.”
