The new chairman of HS2 Ltd, Sir Terry Morgan, has been confirmed as the headline speaker at the inaugural HS2 Economic Growth Conference.

The event, supported by HS2 Ltd, will see Sir Terry Morgan address up to 1,000 delegates on Wednesday 7th November, sharing his views on the importance of the project to the UK’s economic future, the benefits it is already delivering and the huge regeneration and development opportunities it will bring.

Over 50 speakers are set to speak and present at the event including Chair of Old Oak & Park Royal Development Corporation Liz Peace, Chairman of the Urban Growth Company Nick Brown, Chief Executive of East Midlands Airport Karen Smart and HS2 Phase 2 Managing Director Paul Griffiths.

Organised by Built Environment Networking the conference will bring together senior leaders from the public and private sector to discuss, debate and present on the phenomenal opportunities which HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail will bring to our city regions, with the focus on collaborating and aligning as an industry to maximise economic growth.

The event will bring together each and every region and hub – London Euston, Old Oak & Park Royal, The Interchange Station, Birmingham Curzon, Constellation Partnership, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Airport, Toton Interchange, Sheffield and Leeds who’ll all be presenting and promoting opportunities and development zones across their region over two stages, whilst also exhibiting alongside HS2 Ltd and 40 other firms.

Sir Terry Morgan said:

“HS2 is already having a transformative affect in towns, cities and regions across the UK, driving investment and regeneration outside the South East. Serving 25 stations and nearly half of the UK population, the new high-speed railway will rebalance the national economy.

“Businesses and civic leaders across the country are coming together to make sure that their areas are ready to take full advantage of the opportunity HS2 provides. With 7,000 jobs already supported by the project, and around 2,000 businesses having worked on it, HS2 is delivering benefits today.”
