An intelligence led warrant, which led to the recovery of a large quantity of cannabis and cash in Sheffield, has resulted in two men being jailed.
In July this year, officers from the Sharrow Neighbourhood Team received intelligence around an address in the Highfield area being concerned in the production of cannabis.
This anonymous information ultimately led to the officers executing a warrant at an address on Woodhead Road early one morning.
Once inside, officers discovered 60 cannabis plants, worth approximately £60k, and a further 1.1kg of cannabis bud and £5,000 cash in a vehicle outside the property. The drugs and cash were seized and two men were arrested.
Lorenc Metellari (pictured left), 27, of Woodhead Road, Sheffield, and Riza Proshka (pictured right), 19, also of Woodhead Road, both appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Monday 24 September, where they were jailed for production of cannabis.
Both entered guilty pleas at an earlier hearing. They were each handed a 10-month sentence.
PC Christopher Lukins, from the Sharrow team, said: “Our team are constantly seeking out proactive opportunities to disrupt criminality in the area, particularly around the supply and distribution of drugs.
“Drugs ruin communities and can leave people living in the same area feeling miserable and afraid. We would encourage anyone with concerns to get in touch with us either via 101, speak to us while we’re out and about, or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously.
“We will always act on any information passed to us, like in this case, which has resulted in a large amount of cannabis being removed from the streets of Sheffield and disrupted the criminality of two men.”
