It must be love … love, love!

Young Sheffield couple finally get to play opposite each other in Our House the Madness Musical. Presented by Manor Operatic Society, Live from the Sheffield City Hall 15th-18th May 2019.

James Smith 25 & Emily Mae Hoyland 22 are no stranger to treading the boards of theatres around Sheffield, but this will be the first time that the young pair get to play as an on stage couple.

James has been a member of MOS for 9 years and has played many leading roles throughout his time; including Sam Wheat – Ghost the Musical, Caractacus Potts – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and most recently the loveable rogue, Aladdin. Emily joined MOS in 2015 and has also played her fair share of principal roles including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and the hilarious Baroness Bomburst in last year’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. One day their eyes met across the rehearsal room and they knew it must be love! The couple have been together for a little over 3 years and have plans to move in together this year.

When talking about Our House and being both an onstage and offstage couple the pair said “It’s like a dream come true, Our House is one of our favourite musicals and we’ve seen it many times together. We both love performing and to get to finally play a couple in such a great show is wonderful”

Interlaced with the wonderful music of Madness, Our House is full of laughs with larger than life characters, huge dance numbers and a touching and riveting storyline. The story follows Camden lad Joe Casey (James Smith) and the two paths that Joe’s life could take after one fateful night on his 16th Birthday. One path means a criminal record and social exclusion, while the other will lose him Sarah (Emily Mae Hoyland) the girl that he loves. The story follows both Good Joe & Bad Joe as they deal with the consequences of that night. Whilst one fights to keep Sarah, the other is marrying her in a glitzy wedding; and ultimately, Good Joe tries to save his family home but Bad Joe is determined to demolish it with tragic consequences.

The show features many Madness hits including Baggy Trousers, It Must be Love, Wings of a Dove, NW5, One Step Beyond, House of Fun and of course the title track Our House.
