Man arrested in connection with Ecclesall Road assault

A 27-year-old man has been arrested by South Yorkshire Police investigating the serious assault of a man in the Ecclesall Road area of Sheffield last weekend.

The 27-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and is currently in police custody.

Shortly after 5.30pm on Saturday 19 September, emergency services were called to reports a 36-year-old man had been assaulted. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition.

Yesterday, a 27-year-old man was arrested by South Yorkshire Police on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A 31-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender remains on police bail pending further enquiries.
