Managing Director Ian to run for Lost Chord in 2019 London Marathon

BUSINESSMAN Ian Chester is preparing for one of the biggest sporting challenges of the year after being chosen to represent leading Yorkshire dementia charity Lost Chord in the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon.

Lost Chord, the organisation that provides vital interactive musical experiences for people living with dementia in care homes and day centres across the region and nationally has been allocated just one place in the event that attracts professional and amateur runners from across the globe.

And Lost Chord Chief Executive Helena Muller decided that Ian, the Managing Director of Yorkshire Windows, was the ideal candidate to take up the challenge of competing and raising funds to ensure the programme of musical events can continue.

“We are a South Yorkshire based charity and Yorkshire Windows is a South Yorkshire company so there was an immediate link between us,” said Helena.

“The fact that Ian is also such an enthusiastic and experienced endurance runner means we also know he has what it takes to compete in this world class event and make a real difference to the lives of people living with dementia.

“We shall be following his training programme and encouraging all our supporters to do their bit by sponsoring Ian as he takes the name of Lost Chord to the capital.”

A keen fitness enthusiast, Ian has most recently taken part in the Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon in Leeds and the gruelling Barclay’s MoonTrekker nocturnal endurance event in Hong Kong.

“I did my first London Marathon last year and am delighted that Lost Chord have placed their faith in me and given me this chance to return in April 2019,” he said.

“It’s a brilliant day and now that I have a charity like Lost Chord to run for I am determined not only to improve on my time but also to raise as much money as possible.

“Dementia is a cause that should be close to all our hearts as it is one that affects so many families.

“I know what great work Lost Chord is doing and it is a true honour for me to know that I will be wearing their colours on the day.”
