One of the region’s top chefs is set to lift the lid on a few culinary secrets tomorrow (Tuesday, June 25th) as he prepares to unveil the brand new cookery department at Atkinsons department store.
Chris Hale – who reached the quarter finals of BBC Masterchef – will be teaming up with the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Tony Downing, as part of the department store’s 147th birthday celebrations.
The founder of the award-winning Pop Up North catering company will be demonstrating some of his most exciting and innovative recipes including pan fried steak, green beans and chimichurri sauce, wild mushroom ragu on ciabatta (vegan), griddled peaches with honeyed cream and rum salted caramel – with a little help from the Lord Mayor.
Atkinsons is offering its shoppers free on-site car-parking for the duration of the event – people are encouraged to make a donation to Weston Park Cancer Charity instead.
Customers also get the chance to ‘win a Masterchef at home experience’ where Chris Hale visits the winner’s home and cooks a three-course meal for up to six people. There will also be additional competitions on the day to win Rocktanium pan sets and frying pans.
David Cartwright, Atkinsons store manager, said: “We’re thrilled that Chris Hale has agreed to take part in our event. He is one of our region’s most innovative chefs and he’s the perfect person to help us showcase our cooking department’s healthy cooking products.
“It’s also the perfect day to find a bargain as it’s the first day of our Summer Sale! So, hopefully with the opportunity to win a great prize and free parking we’ll raise substantial funds for a great local charity, Weston Park Cancer Charity.”
The new-look cookery department now offers a host of new brands including the latest eco cookware products and the latest new tableware from Derbyshire’s own Denby.
