Mayor Dan Jarvis has written to NHS staff working on the front line of the Coronavirus crisis, thanking them for their “continued service, hard work and dedication throughout this most difficult of times.”
In the letter, Mayor Jarvis expresses his “profound and heartfelt gratitude” to the nurses, cleaners, administrators, porters and doctors” who are “at the sharp end of keeping our country going.”
He also says that Coronavirus has brought out the best in people, and that he is working to ensure all NHS staff get the equipment and support they need to do their jobs.
The letter was sent on the same day that people across the UK took part in the “Clap for Carers” tribute, showing their support for NHS and care workers dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
