Ovo Spaces shortlisted in Inspired Spaces North Awards 2019

AWARD winning Sheffield commercial interior design and fit-out specialist Ovo Spaces has been shortlisted for the Inspired Spaces North Awards 2019.

Inspired Spaces North is the competition that recognises the finest workspaces in the region, with members of the public having the chance to vote for their favourite project…and there’s are still a few hours left to cast your vote.

Ovo Spaces is based at Sheffield’s Canal Basin in a Grade II listed warehouse that was built at the height of the canals boom around 1819 but was little used by the end of the 19th century and was completely derelict by the early 1990s.

The move into the building gave the Ovo team an inspiring new workplace with many unusual features, including a bespoke, wide beam canal barge named Victoria featuring the very latest sustainable, eco friendly features such as battery powered electric propulsion, solar power regeneration for underfloor heating and LED lighting.

“As with all our projects, we have worked to the highest environmentally friendly standards and we have been consulting the Renewable Heat Initiative throughout the process for their help and assistance,” said Ovo Managing Director David Baldwin.

“We believe this is an outstanding example of how to transform and up-cycle a wonderful building, creating a great working space for ourselves but also preserving a vital piece of Sheffield’s industrial and cultural heritage.

“We also feel we are also contributing to the regeneration of what promises to be a hugely important part of the city as the regeneration of this area of town continues.”
