Rotherham actors head for the riverbank with Wind in the Willows

WHEN you’re looking for the finest community theatre talent, there’s one obvious place to start…Rotherham!

Handsworth and Hallam Theatre Company return to the Montgomery Theatre in Sheffield from June 19 to 22 with their production of family musical.

And there’s plenty of Rotherham talent in the show, which captures all the magic of the classic English riverbank adventure as the outrageous Mr Toad and his friends set off from Toad Hall on a crazy adventure that’s packed with music, action and laughter.

“We have always attracted company members from both Sheffield and Rotherham,” said company spokesperson Laura Langley.

“Our Musical Director Ray Gallagher is also a Rotherham man and is very well known throughout the local amateur theatre world.

“And the fact that we actually rehearse at St Anne’s Junior and Infant School makes us even more popular with Rotherham actors and singers.”

The much-loved classic novel has been adapted for the stage by Oscar-winning Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, with songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who worked on the hit West End and Broadway stage version of Mary Poppins.

Tickets for the show, which is directed and choreographed by Claire Harriott, are on sale now. To book call 07586293546 or email:
