Sheffield business park secures second union

A second major trade union is to relocate to Sheffield’s Meadowhall Business Park.

Community, which represents workers across general sectors including manufacturing, clothing, textiles and footwear, road transport, betting and gaming, call centres, voluntary organisations, community-care providers and housing associations, has acquired 7,500 sq ft at ARBA Group’s recently refurbished multi-million pound business park.

The acquisition will allow the union to relocate its regional function from Phoenix House on Flash Lane in Rotherham with a fit out now underway on the accommodation in Block MBP4 on Carbrook Hall Road.

Community joins GMB Union which moved its operations to a new conference and learning hub at Meadowhall Business Park in May last year.

Richard Burns, director at ARBA Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome another major trade union as Community relocates to Meadowhall Business Park.

“The acquisition confirms the union’s commitment to the region and its workers, but also bolsters the profile of the park by complementing a broad spread of businesses.

“The location of the park means it is ideally situated for Community’s members and staff across the South Yorkshire and Yorkshire region to access the new offices.”

Other tenants at the popular 70,000 sq ft business park include CapGemini, Tuffnells, NG Bailey, Auburn Ainsley Limited, Chique Photography, KitchenEx, Preventx, Wilford Smith, Eaton Commercial Property Consultants Ltd and Galaxy Insulation and Dry Lining (Holdings) Limited.

Only suites from 3,750 sq ft to 7,500 sq ft now remain to let/for sale at the 70,000 sq ft five-block business park, which is now home to more than 13 companies, employing more than 500 staff.

The Sheffield office of Knight Frank and Campbell & Co are marketing the remaining space at Meadowhall Business Park which is located opposite IKEA, less than one mile from junction 34 of the M1, two miles from Junction 33 of the M1, within six miles of the M1/M18 intersection and 25 miles of the M1/M62 intersection.
