MEMBERS of Shiregreen Sports and Badminton Club have almost doubled their fundraising in a second year of support for St Luke’s Hospice.
The group raised £300 in their first year of raising cash for Sheffield’s only hospice but have already raised £580 in 2018.
They are raising money in memory of Jane Bilton who was a member of the club and a St Luke’s patient.
Her son Josh now regularly attends the club and was keen to get the badminton club to raise money for the hospice.
Among their fundraising initiatives have been a charity week where members raised £411 with ‘pay what you want’ donations for sessions.
And club chairman Adam Hague also raised £170 through a series of personal challenges.
“This has been a great two years of support for St Luke’s,” said St Luke’s Community Fundraising Assistant Zoe Manders.
“Every penny they raised really does make a great difference to the lives of all our patients and their families.”
