STAFF and visitors at St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield are set to enjoy an improved dining experience thanks to funding support from the Scarborough Group Foundation.
The Scarborough Group Foundation is the charitable arm of Scarborough Group, the private family business of Sheffield United co-owner Kevin McCabe, which has donated substantial sums either directly or via the Sheffield United Community Foundation to organisations as varied as St Luke’s, The Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Neuro Care, Breast Cancer Care, St Wilfrid’s Centre and Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
This latest donation of £10,000 goes to the St Luke’s café improvement and renovation project, the final part of the complete transformation of the hospice’s Little Common Lane catering facilities.
It will create a relaxing environment for staff and volunteers to get food and drinks on their breaks as well as providing an improved public dining space for patients’ families and visitors.
“We are delighted to be able to contribute to the vital work that St Luke’s affords to the people of Sheffield,” said Mr McCabe.
“Either via The Scarborough Group Foundation or the Sheffield United Community Foundation, we continue to support local city institutions and local organisations which provide much needed support to the health and wellbeing of the Sheffield Community and in particular to those, who through circumstance deserve and need help, funds and inspiration.”
St Luke’s Chief Executive Peter Hartland added: “We are so pleased that, thanks to this extremely generous donation from The Scarborough Group Foundation, we are able to complete the huge project of bringing our catering services for patients, visitors and staff up to the standard required in the 21st century.
“Our services are already rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission and we feel confident now that their inspectors will be even more impressed the next time they visit us.”
