AS the song says and as every Burlesque Queen knows…you gotta have a gimmick!
That’s why this trio of daring newcomers took part in a special burlesque workshop before landing their roles as world weary performers in classic rags to riches backstage musical Gypsy.
Gypsy is the Broadway and Hollywood musical favourite based on the outrageous early life of Gypsy Rose Lee, the celebrated and pioneering First Lady of Burlesque, whose innocent costume malfunction in 1930s Vaudeville introduced a new and very adult form of entertainment to the world.
The show is the next production from STOS Theatre Company, running at Sheffield’s Lyceum from from November 13 to 17, with Lauren Lomas as the unlikely stripping star and Keeley Anna as her tirelessly determined and ambitious mother.
Playing the old time entertainers – Electra, Tessie and Mazeppa – who take young Gypsy under their wing are Caroline Fojut, Louise Walker and Viv Siberry Scott.
And following their Burlesque workshop session, all three are up to the highest tassle-twirling standard!
Gyspy runs at Sheffield’s Lyceum from November 13 to 17. For tickets call 0114 249 6000 or visit sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
