Two men die following collision on Stocksbridge bypass

Police are appealing for witnesses after two people died following a multi-vehicle collision on the Stocksbridge Bypass yesterday (Sunday 26 August).

At around 5.55pm, it is reported that a grey Volkswagen Golf and a silver Citroen Picasso were involved in a collision on the A616 Stocksbridge Bypass, Sheffield. A silver Jeep Cherokee, travelling behind the Picasso, was then reportedly involved in a collision with the Picasso.

The driver of the Golf suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Picasso, a man believed to be in his 50s, was taken to hospital where he died in the early hours of this morning (Monday 27 August).

A passenger in the Picasso, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains.

Formal identification has not yet taken place and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 654 of 26 August 2018.
