THE Sheffield branch of animal charity Blue Cross for Pets is enjoying a boom thanks to pupils from the city’s Westbourne School.
The children at the Broomhill independent school have selected the organisation as their charity of the year for 2020.
The Blue Cross for Pets Sheffield unit offers advice about pet care and rehoming as well as free microchipping for dogs and cats.
The charity also make sure homeless dogs get the training and veterinary treatment they need.
And the children’s ongoing programme of fundraising events is meaning regular deliveries of much-needed items from the school to the charity.
“We have received a huge thank you from Blue Cross for Pets for arranging donations which we purchased with the money raised at our recent school events,” said Westbourne Junior School head Jon Clark.
“All the items purchased will go such a long way in helping more animals and allowing more to go into foster homes.
“The charity actually said it felt like Christmas Day at the centre thanks to the children’s incredibly enthusiastic efforts.
“We always allow our children to make their own choice of charity of the year and that means we have supported everything from our local hospices to homeless charities.”
